Fill Your Body With The Good Stuff – With Joscelyn Pohar Fletcher

“I feel like I was born to help people.” These words were the opening statement by our incredible guest, Joscelyn Pohar Fletcher, last Wednesday on Episode 23 of the Red Bra Project YouTube channel. If you have not stopped by to watch the episode yet we don’t know what you are waiting for! We promise you will instantly be inspired by this woman who wears so many hats in her daily life. She is a wife, mom, part-time speech and feeding therapist, and in addition to all that she spends her days being a motivator to other women to be happy & healthy! Ahh!!! We can’t get enough of the great things this lady is doing!

A Midwest woman transplanted to Texas, Joscelyn quickly learned, when she realized the family that was always around her to help support her was no longer there, that she needed to put together a tribe of other women to encourage her every day routine. She self admits to struggling with anxiety and has appropriately titled her Facebook page The Anxious Mama. In a vulnerable statement with us, she shared that she recognizes that she can never be physically well if she’s not first mentally well. She personally believes there is so much importance to an individual’s mental health and having her support team around her helps her get through those moments of struggle whether it be work, home, family, or just life!

Always a planner and organizer, Joscelyn shared that a younger age she was able to manage her anxiety by staying ahead and knowing what was coming her way. However, after grad school and several years of just not feeling like herself, Joscelyn had several medical tests run that ultimately led to her diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is typically associated with widespread muscle pain and tenderness and is often accompanied by fatigue and altered sleep, memory, and mood. Two other common symptoms of firbromyalgia include depression and anxiety.

Joscelyn made a committment to herself and her tribe of women that anxiety wasn’t going to control her. She makes sure she has a daily routine which includes, be present, positive and most important to be moving. She is consistently making sure that she wakes up and moves…any cardio she can squeeze in even with her kiddos in the background gets her day on the right track. She knows if she doesn’t make time for movement her mind is not at the level it should and hard days typically follow. She encourages women to This past year Joscelyn has taken the time for personal development. She is reading books on self care, listening to podcasts and just investing the energy to get her mind in the right place.

She states when you listen to something uplifting you know that you are not alone and we all have struggles…it helps push through those daily battles.

Joscelyn had the honor of being our first Red Bra share of the new year and we both believe it was a perfect superhero moment! She reflected with us that every time she has a mental wellness share on social media she can just feel her anxiety taking over, a bit of a freak out inside, and an almost impossible task to hit the post button. However, she pushes through that fear because she learned from her first mental health post how necessary it was to put it out there. She received a flood of women thanking her for being vulnerable ….so many women came to tell her that after her post they no longer felt alone. She states it was that first post that made her realize the things she used to be embarrassed about or kept inside were not only helping other women, but it was also providing her with an opportunity to feel more free.

Joscelyn admits that everyone can look like they have it together but it’s helpful to know there are other people who know what you are feeling either because they are there with you or they have been there before. The important thing to remember is that you have the ability to make sure you have positive mental health wellness. Figuring out what works for you can be the first step in ensuring remaining positive moving forward. Joscelyn is more than happy to be that motivator for all that find her and seek out her positive mindset.
